In summer 2019 I started working with Pragnya. Since day 1, she has been an excellent recruiter that I look up to. Not only is she extremely sharp in her industry insights, she is also a fierce advocate and negotiation expert for underrepresented groups in tech.
Pragnya taught me so much in my work, I cannot be more proud and excited to introduce this collab! What questions do you have for her on negotiation? She’ll share her tips in an upcoming newsletter ✍️
Is there a bulletproof way of expressing/verbalising your salary expectations? Like, one that always works? Personally I hate being asked "how much do you make?" as a basis for negotiating my salary expectations, since the conversation is not about my current job but about my next one... therefore I change the direction of the discussion by simply responding "I want x". Any advice on how to improve my game besides this simple tactic?
Are there any resources to determine the 'average' salary given number of years experience in a specific field?
Is it better to ask for too much and be pushed back?
How often should you be discussing your salary with your current employer?
Duly noted ☑️ Pragnya will have plenty to share!

Hmm, asking for current salary sounds illegal... Great question, let's see what Pragnya says!
