This is fantastic, Annie. So many articles on these things give good (if vague) advice, but some of us need to see successful examples to jump-start the excruciating writing-about-yourself process. I'm about to have my first call with a recruiter and the examples are so helpful.

Your timing has been lining up perfectly with my job hunt, so if I could selfishly ask for the next one to be about screening calls with hiring managers, that would be amazing. 😅🙏

Hey there! Thanks so much for your feedback, super happy to hear that I get to help you! I've thought about the hiring manager interview, but the questions asked here really highly depend on the job function. If you are an engineer, there are much better articles out there (maybe I can recommend a few resources?)

Some quick thoughts on the hiring manager interviews: always come prepared, have an agenda, and be specific. The hiring manager is someone who's an expert in your field, so you better know what you are saying and back it up, cus they can detect bullshit. Don't miss out on any achievement or interesting work you've done in the field. Research their career path, their work, and speak to at least one employee on their team before the interview. Then prepare a good list of specific questions about the key challenges of their team, the team structure, their expectations, and future career growth.

I'll do some research on good articles to read up for the most common job functions in tech startups, so you can get more help for your hiring manager interviews! Good luck!
